Baja California has been unanimously selected by the Tourist Tianguis Selection Committee as the venue for the 2025 Tourist Tianguis, the premier tourism event in Latin America. This decision highlights the state's significant advancements in tourism and connectivity, positioning it as a prime location for such a prestigious gathering. In 2023, Baja California attracted over 28 million visitors, contributing an economic impact of 119 billion pesos and achieving more than 4 million hotel room occupancies.

This selection is a testament to Baja California's impressive growth in the tourism sector. According to travel2latam,The state's remarkable air connectivity, with the Tijuana International Airport handling over 13 million passengers and ranking as the fourth busiest in Mexico, played a crucial role. The Mexicali airport also witnessed notable growth, servicing more than 1.6 million passengers. Tijuana's airport stands as the best-connected in Mexico, offering direct flights to 43 destinations and over 360 flights daily. The upcoming American Airlines flight linking Tijuana with Phoenix further enhances its suitability as the Tianguis Turístico 2025 venue.

Moreover, the Baja Center Convention Center is undergoing an expansion from 10,000 to 25,000 square meters, preparing to accommodate the large influx of visitors expected for the event. The strategic location of the convention center, nestled between Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito, adds to the allure of Baja California as an event destination.

The surge in international tourism, especially from the United States and Canada, further underscores Baja California's appeal. The state reported approximately 12 million American tourists and a significant increase in Canadian visitors in the first 11 months of 2023, making up a substantial portion of Mexico's international tourism.

Baja California's readiness for the Tianguis Turístico 2025 is evident in its expanding accommodation facilities, with 7,125 hotel rooms rated from 3 to 5 stars and new projects like the Marriott in Tijuana and Banyan Tree Holdings in Ensenada in progress. This expansion is crucial to hosting the Tianguis Turístico, complemented by the region's capability to host large-scale events and meetings, a sector that attracted over 150,000 attendees in 2023.

The selection of Baja California as the host for the 2025 Tourist Tianguis marks a significant milestone in the region's tourism industry. With its enhanced connectivity, expanding infrastructure, and surge in international tourism, Baja California is set to provide a unique and comprehensive experience for participants, showcasing its growing stature in the global tourism landscape.
