A "red alert" has been issued, signaling a serious threat due to continuous heavy rains and flooding affecting Barcelona and nearby areas. The situation has worsened following recent flash floods in Valencia, heightening concerns among locals and tourists.

Since the onset of the rainy season, Barcelona has faced repeated extreme weather events, resulting in submerged streets and disruptions in public transportation. Tourists and residents alike have been forced to adjust their plans in response to these challenging conditions. In light of this, Catalonian officials have urged the public to refrain from traveling and to steer clear of rivers, canals, and drainage areas.

El Prat, the primary airport serving Barcelona, is among the locations impacted by the high water levels. Numerous flights have been either canceled or heavily delayed as water continues to pour into sections of the terminals. Footage recorded by witnesses reveals water streaming from ceilings and flooding the airport premises, creating significant obstacles for passengers.

Visitors currently in Catalonia amid these severe weather conditions are encouraged to carefully plan their routes, avoid high-risk areas, and remain informed about possible changes in transportation schedules. Forecasts suggest the likelihood of sustained rainfall, making safety a top priority.
