Big problem of little need: In Turkey, the lack of toilets is becoming a massive problem
This sensitive issue has been recognized as one of the most pressing for the Turkish tourism industry. Despite the fact that the number of travelers is growing, the country is facing an acute shortage of public restrooms.
Travelers often face this issue on major sightseeing routes in Turkey. The local authorities demanded that this issue be resolved through the travel media and experts of the Turkish tourism market, writes Turizm Gunlugu.
It is noted that in many popular tourist areas of Turkey, especially in areas such as Gökçeada (the famous "Wind Island", near the Dardanelles Strait) and Büyükada (one of the Prince's Islands in the Sea of Marmara), the problem with public toilets overshadows the tourists' travel experience.
It is emphasized that it is difficult to find 1-2 public toilets in settlements, and in the most visited areas, such as Kefalos Beach and Eski Bademli in Gökçeada, there are none at all.
The article emphasizes that municipalities and the tourism sector must urgently address this problem with toilets in popular tourist areas in Turkey.
"Municipalities that receive tourism revenue in these regions should invest in toilets to meet the basic needs of tourists and improve their travel experience," the authors of the publication said.
The journalists also emphasized that solving this intimate issue "can contribute to the further development of tourism in Turkey and enrich the visitor experience."
