Bikini fine: Brits warned of ban in Spain's biggest tourist destination

The British Foreign Office has warned its citizens about new dress code rules in Spain. In particular, tourists who allow themselves to wear a swimsuit or swimming shorts in public places risk a fine of £500.

It is noted that the new rules will apply in Barcelona and other resort cities of the country. This was reported by The Mirror.

Thus, wearing swimsuits and swimming trunks is only allowed on the territory of beaches and hotels near swimming pools. Otherwise, the police have the right to detain tourists and fine them.

According to Henry Sunley, CEO of Travel Republic, such rules, which are becoming more common among other tourist destinations, "may come as a shock to people who have already booked their vacations." However, "understanding the new rules and how they might affect you should be a top priority to make sure nothing catches you off guard during your trip."
