Brighton & Hove is gearing up for a spectacular weekend with Pride 2024 set to take place on August 3 and 4. This major event is expected to draw thousands of visitors, leading to significant travel preparations and road closures throughout the city.

Travelers should be aware that many roads in the city center will be closed to facilitate the Pride LGBTQ+ Community Parade, the festival in Preston Park, and the Pride Village Party in Kemp Town. These closures are necessary to ensure the safety and smooth flow of the events, impacting vehicular movement.

Public transportation will be crucial for getting around during Pride. Brighton & Hove Buses will operate diversions and special shuttle services to ease movement to and from the festival sites. Additionally, Govia Thameslink Railway will enhance its services with more trains and extra carriages to accommodate the influx of visitors.

Walking is one of the most efficient ways to get around Brighton & Hove during Pride. Many of the key event locations are within a short walking distance from each other, making it a convenient option for attendees. Moreover, the city’s bike-sharing scheme, Beryl BTN Bikes, provides an eco-friendly alternative for navigating the area.

For those planning to use the train, it is advisable to purchase tickets in advance and prepare for busy services. The special queuing system at Brighton station will help manage the large crowds, ensuring an orderly experience for all travelers.

An interesting addition to this year's Pride is the Pride Community Day and Dog Show, set to take place in Preston Park. This family-friendly event features various categories for dogs, retail stores, and entertainment, making it a delightful experience for attendees of all ages. It's worth noting that the event might be rescheduled if the weather conditions are unfavorable to ensure the safety of both humans and pets.

By avoiding car travel and relying on public transportation, walking, or cycling, visitors can enjoy a stress-free experience at Pride 2024. Proper planning will help attendees make the most of the festivities without facing significant travel disruptions.
