Cathay Pacific Airways has banned two Hong Kong passengers from flying on their flights following a complaint from a mainland Chinese traveler about insults that occurred during a recent flight. The conflict between the passengers reportedly arose over seating arrangements in the cabin.

According to video footage, one of the passengers from Hong Kong began insulting another passenger, who was recording the incident on video. The victim, named Aris, said the conflict started when a couple from Hong Kong, seated behind her, asked her to adjust her seat because its reclined position was preventing the woman's husband from watching TV. When Aris refused, the woman became aggressive, kicking Aris' aunt, while her husband began shaking the seat.

Aris stated that the conflict lasted around 30 minutes, despite flight attendants' attempts to intervene. Although the flight attendant asked the couple to stop, the conflict persisted. Eventually, Aris was moved to another seat when the situation escalated.

Cathay Pacific Airways' Response and Public Reaction

Representatives of Cathay Pacific issued an apology for the incident and confirmed that the Hong Kong couple would no longer be allowed to fly on the airline’s flights in the future. This decision was made in line with their policy of holding passengers accountable for inappropriate behavior onboard.

Local students in Hong Kong expressed their support for the airline's decision but noted that the situation might have been avoided if the cabin crew had acted more professionally. One student emphasized that better staff training could have played a key role in resolving such incidents.
