Chiltern Railways Announces Train Delays: Plan Your Travel Ahead
Starting from Friday, June 7th, 2024, travelers using Chiltern Railways should expect disruptions and amended timetables due to various events and planned engineering works.
On Friday, June 7th, due to the England vs. Iceland match at Wembley Stadium (kick-off at 19:45), an enhanced timetable will be in place during the afternoon and evening. This includes additional stops at Wembley Stadium and extra trains. As a result, evening peak services from Marylebone will be affected with some trains canceled and others having adjusted schedules. Notably, the 17:53 Marylebone to West Ruislip service is canceled, and the 18:30 Marylebone to Aylesbury Vale Parkway will depart at 18:31.
Similarly, services from Birmingham will also see changes. The 17:11 Birmingham Snow Hill to Marylebone will additionally call at Lapworth and Hatton, and the 17:20 Birmingham Moor Street to Leamington Spa service is canceled.
On Saturday, June 8th, the RFL Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium will lead to an enhanced timetable for most of the day, with additional stops at Wembley Stadium. However, a reduced service of one train per hour will operate between Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway during the afternoon and evening.
Sunday, June 9th, will see significant disruptions due to planned engineering works. The railway will be closed between Bicester North and Leamington Spa all day. Rail replacement buses will operate, connecting with trains at Bicester North and Leamington Spa, covering routes such as Bicester Village to Banbury to Leamington Spa, and Bicester Village to Banbury to Stratford Upon Avon.
The following week will also have disruptions due to late-night engineering works. On Monday, June 10th, the railway between Aylesbury and Aylesbury Vale Parkway will be closed after 22:45, with rail replacement buses in operation. Similar closures and bus replacements will continue from Tuesday, June 11th, to Thursday, June 13th, affecting routes between Aylesbury and Aylesbury Vale Parkway, and Princes Risborough and Aylesbury.
