Citizens of 59 countries can enter Hainan Province without a visa
Starting from February 9, 2024, the category of reasons for visa-free entry to Hainan has been expanded for several countries. This was reported by the State Immigration Administration of the People's Republic of China.
Currently, citizens of 59 countries, including the United States and Japan, can visit the Chinese island of Hainan without a visa. It is explained that having a tourist purpose is not necessary to visit the island, as reported by nia.gov.cn.
Tourists can come to the province for business, medical, sports, and cultural purposes.
Citizens of these countries will be able to stay in Hainan without a visa for up to 30 days if they enter through any of the open checkpoints on the island. They can also move freely throughout Hainan province, unless there are other visa-free travel arrangements with China.

United Kingdom, France, Germany, Norway, Ukraine, Italy, Austria, Finland, Netherlands, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Monaco, Russia, and Belarus.
According to the Immigration Service, the visa-free stay will be calculated from 00:00 the day after entry. The previously introduced visa-free entry policy to Hainan for citizens from the above-mentioned countries for tourism with a 30-day stay will also remain valid.
Thus, the PRC is trying to make Hainan Province an attractive region of Asia, interesting for investment and tourism, as well as to ensure the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
