On September 25, partial collapses of buildings, including pools and residential structures, occurred in the Mexican resort city of Acapulco due to massive landslides and flooding caused by Hurricane John. The incident took place in residential areas where numerous cases of soil erosion were reported, leading to significant damage from the disaster.

Hurricane John, which struck Mexico's southern coast on September 23, caused catastrophic consequences. It hit the region with strong winds and heavy rains, eventually causing soil displacement and widespread destruction. A day later, on September 24, the hurricane weakened to a tropical storm, but its impact was still felt through flooded streets and landslides.

Flooding and Transport Collapse

By September 26, the streets of Acapulco had turned into rivers, complicating traffic movement. Cars, buses, and trucks struggled through flooded roads, attempting to navigate the deluge. Travelers in the region at the time faced difficulties in moving around, and many roads became completely impassable.

Meteorologists had previously warned about the possibility of sudden flooding and landslides, which became especially crucial information for travelers. The region, already well-acquainted with destructive hurricanes, had been severely impacted by Hurricane Otis in 2023. However, despite the warnings, the disaster once again caught many off guard.

It is recommended that travelers stay informed about weather forecasts and local authorities' advice to avoid dangerous situations. Hurricanes and related disasters can have a significant impact on tourist infrastructure, making it essential to be prepared for possible changes.
