Direct Flights from Kuala Lumpur to Cultural Hub Changsha Reintroduced by AirAsia X
AirAsia X (AAX) is set to recommence direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Changsha starting July 5, 2024, marking a significant reconnection with the culturally-rich capital of Hunan Province, China. This reinstatement comes on the heels of AAX’s recent inaugural flight to Xi’an, underscoring the airline's ambitious expansion in the Chinese market.
AAX’s network now boasts a direct line to Changsha, offering passengers four weekly flights to explore the city known for its historical significance and cultural landmarks, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site Wu Ling Yuan, celebrated for inspiring the scenery in the film "Avatar." As Changsha is a celebrated "China Top Tourist City" and titled "World Capital of Media Arts" and "Culture City of East Asia," the airline anticipates a warm reception of these flights among travelers.
Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X, highlighted that China has always been central to the airline's growth strategies and remains one of its fastest-growing markets. AAX has previously enjoyed robust patronage in the region, with over 140,000 guests to and from Changsha in 2019 alone, indicating a strong foundation for the route's success. The resumed services aim to capitalize on the pent-up demand for travel and contribute to achieving the government's international tourist arrival target of 27 million for the year.
In celebration of this service resumption, AAX is introducing promotional fares starting from RM388 one-way, giving travelers an affordable opportunity to discover Changsha's scenic riverfronts and tree-lined streets. Bookings are open until April 21, 2024, for travel between July 5 and October 26, 2024, which can be made via the airline’s website or mobile app.
Adding further allure for Malaysian tourists, visa-free entry to China for up to 15 days is available until November 30, 2024. This visa exemption is likely to encourage more Malaysians to explore Changsha and other Chinese destinations.
