Disappointment with Italy: why an experienced traveler did not like this country
The traveler Cassandra de Pecol has achieved a remarkable goal - she has traveled all over the world, traveling alone. Her travels usually brought her incredible experiences.
But there were also countries that left her with negative impressions. She shared her experience with the Business Insider.
According to Cassandra, Italy is among the countries that disappointed her. Moreover, the main negative factor for the woman was the attitude of local men towards her. "I am constantly being harassed by men in public," the traveler complains.
According to her, this attitude is manifested in the fact that Italians do not respect women at all. "It's a real shame because women have always been very kind to me. But their actions don't necessarily reflect the values of the country as a whole, which I would say are kindness, generosity and hospitality," she said.
Another country that left a negative impression is the DPRK. "I visited North Korea, realizing the serious need to abide by their rules, and also knowing that the people who live there have to live by these rules every moment," the traveler explains.
She says that she had to ask permission every time she took a picture and was not allowed to leave the hotel without permission. "I had to leave my DSLR camera, phone, GPS tracking device (which I used for my safety so my family would know where I was) and laptop in a luggage room at Shenyang airport because officials had the right to confiscate them," she explained.
According to her, when she was in North Korea, she was also not allowed to communicate with local citizens. "I had a cup of coffee in the hotel lobby and left it on the table, but they told me I couldn't do that either. There were a lot of little rules that made me feel like I was walking on eggshells," Cassandra added.
