There are times when flights can be delayed for one reason or another, delaying travel time and disrupting travellers' plans. In this case, only a few airlines can ensure a smooth outcome and arrive at the airport on time.

Cirium, the world's leading provider of aviation analytics, has identified 10 airlines that showed the best performance last year, becoming the most punctual airlines in the world. TheTravel notes that during the analysis, the company processed more than 600 sources of real-time flight information, determining the time of departure, arrival, delays and cancellations.

Oman Air - 92.53% on-time arrival rate

The Omani airline topped the list with the best arrival rate of 15 minutes on schedule.

Safair - 92.36% on-time arrival rate

This airline is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. According to Safair CEO Elmar Conradie, "We plan these 'turns' literally to the minute: from when the doors open to how quickly we clean the plane and process passengers during boarding."

Copa Airlines - 89.46% on-time arrival rate

The airline's network includes more than 115,000 flights. Copa Airlines is based in Panama City and operates regular flights on the popular São Paulo - Miami route.

Royal Jordanian - 87.51% on-time arrival rate

This airline is based in the capital of Jordan, Amman. They operate regular flights on the most popular Amman-Dubai route, and also implement alternative methods to ensure on-time arrivals.

Avianca Airlines - 85.73% on-time arrival rate

The airline is known in South America and owes its punctuality to more than 13,000 employees. Avianca Airlines is based in Bogota, the capital of Colombia.

Azul Airlines - 85.51% on-time arrival rate

This company demonstrates a high level of punctuality. The airline operates popular flights to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, implementing the WeSafer On-Time Performance programme, which has helped to improve productivity and minimize ground delays.

Qatar Airways - 85.11% on-time arrival rate

Qatar Airways is a leading airline in the Middle East known for its on-time arrivals. This is largely due to the fact that Qatar adheres to a precise schedule that is non-negotiable.

Delta Air Lines - 84.72% on-time arrival rate

One of the world's largest airlines based in Atlanta. The speed of arrival of these planes is explained by the maneuvers performed by pilots during takeoff. By pushing out at a 45-degree angle, they reduce time, which allows pilots to start the engines earlier, saving up to a minute before takeoff.

Iberia Express - 84.58% on-time arrival rate

The result of this Madrid-based company is explained by its philosophy, "Punctuality wins during the transfer, so the processes on the ground must be clearly defined and well structured."

Iberia - 84.38% on-time arrival rate

This company operates regular flights to London and New York, which are characterized by their punctuality. Check-in time for Iberia flights is usually 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time and 20 minutes for boarding.
