SH Hotels & Resorts, the company owned by the renowned American billionaire and investor Barry Sternlicht, has unveiled its ambitious plans to elevate the standards of luxury and sophistication in the Maldives. The Baccarat Hotel & Residences Maldives is set to open its doors in 2027.

Spanning over 111 acres, the resort sprawls across five interconnected islands of the South Male Atoll. It aims to set a new benchmark of unparalleled luxury in one of the world's most sought-after vacation destinations, as reported by TravelandTourWorld magazine.

The Baccarat Hotel & Residences Maldives is said to marry timeless elegance with modern sophistication. "In crafting this exceptional sanctuary, our goal is not only to provide accommodations but to curate an experience that celebrates the essence of luxury living amidst the breathtaking backdrop of the Maldives," express the proprietors of the forthcoming hotel.

"We are carving out a distinct identity in an already remarkable locale, and we are confident that this property will redefine luxury in the Maldives," the company stated. Concurrently, representatives from MDC Investments LLC underscored their pride in announcing their collaboration with Baccarat Hotels, a venerable name synonymous with luxury for over two centuries.

"This collaboration marks an exciting new chapter as we become part of the brand's legacy by introducing the first Baccarat-branded hotel and residences in the Asia Pacific," they emphasized.

Conveniently situated just a 30-minute boat ride from Male's Velana International Airport, the resort will be ensconced within its own lagoon and reef system, boasting over 50 hotel villas and 53 private residences available for purchase. Designed by the esteemed architectural firm HKS, with interiors by 1508 London renowned for its opulent and innovative spaces, the Baccarat Hotel & Residences Maldives promises to epitomize modern elegance fused with the natural allure of the islands.

Accommodation choices will span from one- to three-bedroom hotel villas featuring private pools to private residences exuding luxury living overlooking the lagoon or beach. For those seeking grandeur, options include six- or seven-bedroom mansions on an exclusive peninsula, while eight- and nine-bedroom private islands offer complete seclusion amidst the stunning Maldivian scenery.

Culinary experiences will uphold the lofty standards of the Baccarat Hotels brand, encompassing signature restaurants helmed by world-renowned chefs. The resort will also offer a lifestyle brimming with luxury and creativity, featuring bespoke retail spaces, the Baccarat Crystal Garden, an alfresco cinema, an art gallery, and event venues showcasing international artists, among other amenities. Activities will cater to every preference, from a nine-hole golf course and tennis courts to traditional fishing and scuba diving, allowing guests to explore the vibrant underwater world.

A dedicated wellness spa will provide relaxation and rejuvenation services, offering an array of treatments from massages to facials and hydrotherapy, complemented by yoga pavilions and a state-of-the-art gym. Furthermore, there will be a turtle rehabilitation center and other environmental initiatives, enabling guests to immerse themselves in the natural wonders of the Maldives.
