Experienced tourist tragically dies near a waterfall in the United States

Caroline Meister, 30, an avid traveler and resident of California, died in the mountains during a one-day hike. Her body was found after 4 days of searching near a waterfall in the mountain Zen center of Tassajara.

The tourist did not return from the hike on Monday of last week, which prompted her friends to raise the alarm. The search began the next day after a call to the authorities and lasted until Friday, when Meister's body was found at the foot of the waterfall, CNN reports.

Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto said that criminal charges are not being considered at this time. According to her, Meister's injuries look like she fell off a cliff.

"She knew the area very well. She was also an avid hiker," her father, John Meister, told reporters.

It is reported that the traveler did not want to stay overnight on the hike. She took only food with her and went without a change of clothes.

The rescue operation involved more than 100 searchers from 13 agencies. Helicopters were also involved.
