British tourists were outraged by the disappearance of one of Spain's tourist attractions in Playa Blanca, best known as the Lanzarote Spoon. They were traveling to see the legendary cutlery, but their expectations were not met.

Where the spoon used to be visible from the wall, there is no trace of it. The mystery of who removed it and why has not been solved yet, despite the growing wave of anger and disappointment among tourists, The Mirror writes.

The teaspoon embedded in the concrete, known as the Lanzarote Spoon, had its own Facebook page, Tripadvisor entry, and even a Google Earth tag.

One angry Briton called those responsible for her disappearance "morons" in an angry post on social media.

Karen Goodley confessed: "We were lucky. We had just returned from Lanzarote and found the spoon before it was taken."

Another regular, Donna Mooney, was outraged: "I'm devastated. The kids loved looking for the spoon every time we went there."

The spoon may have been mistakenly left behind by a worker in the eighties when the embankment was built, although no one has yet come up with a conclusive theory as to its origin. But the cutlery has become a real star among tourists.

Only the upper part of the silver bowl of the small spoon was visible under the concrete that hid the handle, so finding it was a popular pastime for families.
