Jetting Julia, a well-known flight attendant and YouTube vlogger, has alerted travelers to a potentially dangerous mistake frequently made by passengers on flights. This caution comes after an incident on a recent US flight where a passenger fell seriously ill.

The incident occurred when a man began to feel "freezing cold" and was "visibly shaking" even before takeoff. A doctor on board assessed him, and paramedics were called. It was determined that the man was unfit to fly. He later revealed that he had not eaten anything on the day of his flight, a common mistake among travelers.

Julia stressed the importance of eating and drinking on travel days. She emphasized that flying on an empty stomach can be harmful and that staying hydrated is crucial as the cabin environment can lead to dehydration.

London Gatwick Airport supports this advice, noting that the pressurized nature of airplane cabins can cause dehydration. They recommend passengers drink plenty of water and fruit juice, while avoiding alcohol, fizzy drinks, and caffeinated beverages.

Additionally, Turkish Airlines advises passengers to consume at least one meal containing seasonal fruits and vegetables before long flights to mitigate potential bloating caused by changes in cabin pressure. The airline explained that cabin pressure is lower than at sea level, which can cause gas in the stomach to expand, leading to discomfort.

Proper hydration and nutrition are essential for maintaining health during flights. Travelers are encouraged to be mindful of their dietary habits before and during flights to ensure a safe and comfortable journey.
