Flydubai has successfully launched its first direct flight to Basel, Switzerland, marking a significant expansion of the airline's European network. The inaugural flight, which landed at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg on July 29, 2024, opens new travel opportunities between Dubai and one of Europe’s key cultural and economic hubs.

The new route is part of Flydubai’s ongoing strategy to connect Dubai with underserved destinations and provide passengers with more options for direct flights. Basel, located at the crossroads of Switzerland, France, and Germany, is a major center for business, culture, and tourism. With this new service, travelers from Dubai and the wider GCC region can now easily access the heart of Europe, whether for business, leisure, or connecting flights to other European cities.

Flydubai’s CEO, Ghaith Al Ghaith, highlighted the significance of this new route, stating, "We are pleased to launch our operations to Basel, offering passengers convenient access to one of Europe’s most important regions. This new connection will not only enhance travel options for passengers but also strengthen ties between the UAE and Switzerland."

The airline will operate four weekly flights between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. The service will be conducted using Flydubai’s modern Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which offers an enhanced travel experience with spacious seating, in-flight entertainment, and a range of amenities. Passengers can choose between Economy and Business Class, with the latter offering additional comfort and convenience, including priority boarding and more spacious seating.

Basel is known for its rich cultural scene, hosting renowned art fairs such as Art Basel, as well as being home to numerous museums, theaters, and galleries. The city’s proximity to the picturesque landscapes of the Swiss Alps, the Black Forest, and the Alsace wine region makes it an attractive destination for tourists. Moreover, Basel is a key business hub, particularly in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, making this new route a valuable addition for business travelers.

Flydubai’s new service to Basel is expected to boost tourism and business exchanges between the UAE and Switzerland, while also providing a gateway for travelers to explore the surrounding regions of France and Germany. The addition of Basel to Flydubai’s growing network reflects the airline’s commitment to expanding its reach in Europe and offering passengers more direct routes to key destinations.

As Flydubai continues to grow its European footprint, the airline is poised to offer even more travel options, connecting Dubai with a wider array of global destinations. The new Basel route is a testament to Flydubai’s dedication to enhancing connectivity and providing high-quality service to its passengers.
