Free Parking and Bus Travel in Stratford-upon-Avon: A Boon for Travelers

This summer, Stratford-upon-Avon is rolling out the red carpet for visitors with a fantastic offer: free parking and bus travel courtesy of Stratford Park and Ride. From July 20th to September 1st, 2024, Warwickshire County Council is providing these complimentary services to enhance the travel experience for tourists, families, and even pet owners.

The Stratford Park and Ride service operates daily, offering frequent buses from Bishopton Lane car park into the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon. With over 700 parking spaces, including EV charging points, and amenities like seating and restrooms, visitors can enjoy a comfortable and hassle-free start to their day. The bus journey to the town center takes just 10-12 minutes, with departures every 15 minutes, ensuring minimal wait times.

For those who prefer an active start to their visit, the canal towpath offers a scenic 1.75-mile route into town, perfect for a leisurely walk or bike ride. This initiative not only makes traveling easier but also aims to reduce traffic congestion in the town center, benefiting both locals and visitors.

Stratford-upon-Avon, famously known as the birthplace of William Shakespeare, is a treasure trove of historical and cultural attractions. Visitors can explore Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre​. The town’s charming streets are lined with Tudor-style buildings, offering a picturesque backdrop for a day of exploration​​.

Additionally, the town boasts charming boat trips on the River Avon, allowing visitors to enjoy the picturesque scenery from the water. The Tudor World museum offers a unique glimpse into the Tudor era, housed in an authentic period property. For art enthusiasts, Compton Verney Art Gallery and Park presents an impressive collection of artworks set within 120 acres of stunning parkland.

Stratford Park and Ride is an excellent starting point for your visit. Located conveniently off the A46 and A3400 Birmingham Road, the park and ride facility is easy to access for those traveling by car. The availability of EV charging points makes it a forward-thinking option for eco-conscious travelers. The passenger terminal, with its seating and restrooms, ensures a pleasant wait for the bus.
