Storm "Bora," which tore through Greece, resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals on Limnos. Authorities reported that the deceased were men aged 57 and 70, who lost their lives due to sudden flooding. The relentless rains caused flash floods that severely impacted the island, endangering both residents and visitors.

Another well-known island, Rhodes, famed for its flourishing tourism sector, faced significant damage as powerful winds and heavy downpours devastated roads and structures. Local authorities confirmed that numerous people were relocated from hazardous areas. This serves as a reminder that extreme weather events can disrupt travel plans, urging travelers to be more vigilant.

Warnings for Travelers: Severe Weather Alerts

The Greek Civil Protection Agency issued a critical alert regarding intense rainfall and fierce winds anticipated to hit the northeastern regions, central areas, and the vicinity of Athens. Moreover, meteorologists predict substantial snowfall in the northern and northwestern territories. Tourists in affected zones are strongly advised to remain indoors, while those planning trips should consider revising their itineraries.

Advice for Tourists

Storm "Bora" underscores the necessity of assessing weather conditions when planning trips to areas prone to adverse climatic conditions. Travelers should be ready for potential interruptions to transportation, infrastructure damage, and other challenges. Having travel insurance to cover unexpected events is also strongly recommended. In response to the situation, Greek authorities have heightened the readiness of emergency teams to provide timely assistance.
