Hawaiian Airlines Issues Travel Waivers Amid Tropical Storm Hone
Travelers with plans to visit Hawaii are facing disruptions due to the impact of Tropical Storm Hone. In response, Hawaiian Airlines has announced travel waivers for passengers whose flights have been affected, allowing them to postpone their trips or receive a credit for future travel without penalty. The storm has raised concerns across the region, prompting the airline to make these accommodations to ensure passenger safety and convenience.
Passengers traveling to or from Hilo (ITO) and Kona (KOA) with flights booked on August 24th and 25th are being advised to reschedule their flights. Hawaiian Airlines has offered to rebook these flights at no additional charge, provided the new travel dates fall before August 29th. Travelers must adhere to the same cabin class and route to qualify for the waiver, ensuring minimal disruption and cost to passengers. Those who prefer to cancel their plans altogether can retain the ticket's value as credit, which is valid for one year from the original purchase date, though fare differences may apply for future bookings.
Hawaiian Airlines is not alone in its response. Southwest Airlines has also introduced flexible rebooking options for passengers affected by Tropical Storm Hone. Travelers holding reservations for flights to and from various Hawaiian airports, including Hilo, Honolulu, Kahului, Kona, and Lihue, can rebook their flights within 14 days without penalty. Other airlines operating in the region are expected to follow suit, offering similar flexibility. It is strongly recommended that travelers check with their respective airlines before proceeding with their travel plans to Hawaii during this period.
