Photographer and guide Piet van den Bemd captured the unusual behavior of humpback whales in the Antarctic.
During the hunt, they released air bubbles and created a Fibonacci spiral on the water's surface. This phenomenon is known as bubble feeding. The corresponding footage was published on YouTube.
Humpback whales release air to create columns of bubbles, which helps them gather large amounts of plankton.
Normally, during this process, circles form on the water surface. However, this time, the whales swam in a synchronized spiral motion. The result was a geometric shape resembling the golden ratio.
