In the UK, ASLEF, the union representing train drivers, has announced a new series of continuous protests that will impact 16 rail companies nationwide in order to secure higher wages.

The protests are scheduled to begin in early April and will affect South Western Railway (SWR), Great Western Railway (GWR), Southern, and Gatwick Express. Rail operators throughout the country will be affected over a six-day period, including Southeastern and GTR Great Northern Thameslink, as reported by SurreyLive.

The ban on overtime will also result in ASLEF members canceling their days off from April 4th to 9th. London Underground drivers are also gearing up for separate strikes on April 8th and May 4th.

ASLEF's General Secretary, Mick Whelan, stated that the union voted on the renewed protest mandates, emphasizing that this process must now occur every six months under the law.

ASLEF's walkouts have been ongoing since 2022 as a dispute between the unions over pay and working conditions persists. In total, there have been 14 one-day strikes in the past 20 months.

Overall, strikes will occur across Britain from April 4th to 8th, so tourists are advised to stay updated with the news.
