In Pakistan, tourism revenue has dropped by nearly 20%

Pakistan earned USD 280.981 million from providing various tourism services in different countries during the first five months of the current fiscal year 2023-24.

This represents a decrease of 19.03 percent compared to the similar services worth USD 347.001 million provided during the corresponding months of the last fiscal year 2022-23, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

During the months under review, personal travel services also declined by 19.80 percent, from USD 344.211 million last year to USD 276.071 million during July-November 2023.

Among these personal services, exports of health care expenditures increased by 372.48 percent, while education expenditures increased by 83.25 percent.

In addition, other personal services fell by 22.31 percent.

At the same time, exports of business services grew by 75.99 percent, from USD 2,790 million to USD 4,910 million, according to PBS data.

It is pertinent to note here that exports of services during July-November 2023 were recorded at USD 2,986.26 million against exports of USD 3,089.23 million in July-November 2022, showing a decrease of 3.33 percent.
