After heavy rains in the southern Philippines that lasted for several days, at least 20 people died.
According to the disaster management agency, 13 people were killed in Davao de Oro province, two are missing, and seven people were killed in the neighboring province of Davao del Norte, Reuters reports.
It is noted that the northeast monsoon and low pressure caused rains in the southern region of Mindanao. Precipitation lasted from January 28 to February 2, leading to deadly floods and landslides. More than 812,000 people were affected, of whom about 85,000 took refuge in evacuation centers.
As a reminder, in mid-January, 18 people died as a result of floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in the southern Philippines.
