In the UAE, golf ball-sized hail fell
On Monday, February 12, residents of certain regions in the United Arab Emirates were startled awake by heavy hail. For instance, in Al Ain, Al Botwa, and Bani Yas, hail the size of golf balls pelted down.
Numerous videos have surfaced on social media, depicting the desert entirely blanketed in white. The rains persisted throughout the night in many areas of the country, resulting in submerged roads, including in Dubai, where vehicles were completely engulfed, as reported by Khaleej Times.
Authorities urged people to remain indoors and avoid venturing outside, especially those residing near beaches, valleys, and low-lying areas.
The speed limit on the Mohammed bin Rashid Highway, connecting Dubai and Abu Dhabi, has been lowered to 120 km/h due to adverse weather conditions. Both Abu Dhabi and Dubai police departments have urged drivers to exercise caution during rainy weather, advising them to drive only when essential.
Drivers are encouraged to steer clear of flooded areas, keep a safe distance from power lines and trees, comply with speed limits, and maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles. Additionally, they should refrain from abrupt braking and reduce speed while navigating corners to prevent skidding.
