Intrepid Travel Launches New Train Routes
Intrepid Travel has announced the launch of a new line of train journeys, offering over 40 routes, three of which will debut in 2024. Among the new routes are the Trans-Mongolian Railway and a route inspired by the Orient Express, from France to Turkey.
The first route, "Trans-Mongolian Adventure," starts in Beijing and travels through China and Inner Mongolia, ending in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Travelers will visit Hustai National Park and the Gobi Desert. The route duration is 11 days.
The second route, "Express to the Orient: Paris to Istanbul," connects Paris and Budapest with stops in Strasbourg, Munich, Salzburg, and Vienna. After Budapest, travelers will head to Belgrade, Niš, Sofia, and Plovdiv, finishing the journey in Istanbul. The route lasts 15 days.
The third route, "Paris to Rome by Rail," passes through Switzerland, including stops in Lausanne, Lucerne, and Bellinzona, and ends in Rome. The duration of the trip is 10 days.
Each tour is designed for groups of 10 to 12 people and is accompanied by a local guide. Intrepid Travel continues to replace flights with train journeys, reducing carbon emissions. For example, on the "Scenic Vietnam" route, a flight was replaced with an overnight train, reducing carbon emissions by 12 percent per person per day.
