Italy is one of the most popular tourist destinations for travellers from all over the world. However, in addition to well-known and popular tourist destinations, Italy offers other interesting routes.

After all, in Italy, everyone can discover many fascinating places worth visiting in 2024. Forbes offers some of the most popular places to visit in Italy.

Cernobbio is a picturesque city on the shores of Lake Como. Tourists are attracted by the soothing scenery or zigzagging ferry routes that take them to other famous cities such as Bellagio and Como.

Tourists are offered to stay at the Villa d'Este establishment with newly renovated rooms, glamorous gardens, and a floating pool. Be sure to book a motorboat ride on the lake to explore the many famous palaces and villas located along the shore.

The Cinque Terre area on the Ligurian coast consists of five small towns (Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore). It is advised to visit in late spring or early autumn when the weather is not so hot and there are more interesting offers.

Travellers are offered routes on panoramic trains, winding roads or even by sea. If you want to visit some other famous cities, Portofino, home to the famous Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, is a short drive away. Other day trips include a visit to Pisa, where the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa is located.

If Florence is your destination of choice, try something on the outskirts instead of a traditional city hotel. The city offers many cultural and artistic attractions. The best time to visit is in spring and autumn when the weather is not as hot as in summer.

In addition to the excellent restaurants in the city, try a boat trip on the Arno River. It offers a unique perspective of the city from the water. Back at Villa La Massa, the new swimming pool, cooking classes, and impressive spa will ensure complete relaxation after a day of travelling.

Varignana is located near Bologna and is one of the most famous destinations in Italy for spa vacations. Famous for its lush vineyards and olive groves, it is a place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The best time to visit is spring and autumn.

Locals are drawn here by the teachings of the resort's wellness specialist and author Dr. Annamarie Acquaviva, who has developed her own scientific method to help guests live longer based on how they eat and their habits. Guests can watch the staff press olive oil, attend a wedding in the chapel, or swim in one of the many pools.

Rome is a real pearl not only of Italy but of the whole world. Try to avoid the hot summer months when the city is crowded with tourists. Spend time exploring the city and then escape the crowds with a free shuttle to the hillside of Rome Cavalieri.

It features unique architectural landmarks, with unparalleled views of the city from the resort-style pool and spa. This is a great option even for those who are not visiting Rome but use it as an arrival or departure airport in connection with visits to other Italian cities.

Taormina is the most famous city in eastern Sicily. The absolute highlight that attracts tourists is the stunning San Domenico Palace, Four Seasons Hotel Taormina. From this base, travellers can explore the island's charming towns, its famous vineyards for wine tasting, a historic amphitheatre, and even climb Mount Etna. Unsurprisingly, many travellers also come to Sicily to trace their family roots, and the hotel can help organize all of these experiences.

The Dolomites are known as a mountain range in the Eastern Alps in northeastern Italy. The incredible beauty of this outdoor destination stuns millions of tourists. In the winter months, skiing is a favourite activity, and in the warmer months, hiking, cycling, and camping are popular.

The COMO Alpina Dolomites is the newest luxury resort in these famous mountains, opened in December 2023. This year-round resort has access to ski slopes. At the same time, scenic drives between small villages where you can sample the region's famous wines and dishes are a great alternative. If you have been to the Swiss Alps, it is worth visiting the Italian version in 2024.
