Korean Air Celebrates 45 Years of New York Service

Korean Air marked the 45th anniversary of its route to New York with a grand celebration in Manhattan, bringing together key partners like the Korea Tourism Organization, Incheon International Airport Corporation, and Delta Air Lines. The event not only commemorated the airline's longstanding service but also highlighted its contribution to America's eastern region, earning it a Senate and General Assembly Citation from New Jersey.

The ceremony was a moment of reflection and gratitude towards the Korean American communities in New York and New Jersey, with the airline presenting a plaque of appreciation for their continued support. Jin Ho Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Americas Regional Headquarters at Korean Air, expressed his thanks and outlined future service enhancements, including the introduction of new lounges upon the completion of the new Terminal One in 2026.

Notable attendees included Euy Whan Kim, Consul General of Korea in New York; Kwang S. Kim, President of Korean American Association of Greater New York; and various local dignitaries, with around 130 guests celebrating this milestone. The event also showcased Korea as a premier tourist destination and highlighted its increased hub competitiveness following the expansion of Incheon International Airport.

Since initiating its New York service on March 29, 1979, Korean Air has played a crucial role in promoting cultural, art, and economic exchanges between Korea and the U.S. The airline continues to operate two daily flights between New York JFK and Seoul Incheon, facilitating seamless connectivity for passengers. The celebration included unique touches like a special 45th-anniversary wine and custom tote bags, enhancing the festive atmosphere and reinforcing Korean Air's commitment to exceptional customer service for years to come.
