Due to a significant decline in domestic tourism, Florida was visited by significantly fewer tourists in 2023 compared to the record-breaking year of 2022. According to Visit Florida, a tourism marketing agency, Florida received 122.89 million American tourists last year, but this figure was unable to surpass the result of 2022, when 127.8 million travelers arrived in the state.

In total, 135.02 million tourists arrived in Florida last year, while in 2022 the number of visitors was a record 137.4 million. This was reported by FOX 35 Orlando.

Visit Florida pointed out the overall growth and increase in the number of international tourists arriving in Florida in recent years. In particular, in 2019, the state managed to attract about 131.1 million tourists.

Additionally, after the lifting of pandemic restrictions, Visit Florida emphasized the attraction of foreign visitors who stay longer and spend more than residents. Thus, in 2023, the number of foreign travelers increased from 7 million in 2022 to 8.31 million, the lion's share of which (3.822 million) were Canadian citizens.

Visit Florida President and CEO Dana Young said: "Even as we faced the challenges of rising travel costs and widespread inflation, Florida's tourism sector not only survived but thrived in 2023. From record air travel to a strong return of international visitors, Florida continues to shine."
