London Underground Staff Strikes to Disrupt Passengers in November

Employees of the London Underground are preparing for several walkouts in November, driven by unresolved wage negotiations. Representatives of the Aslef union, comprising train drivers, trainers, and managerial staff, are set to stop operations in response to the refusal of Transport for London (TfL) to negotiate more favorable pay conditions.

The plan indicates that Underground staff will hold strikes across multiple lines during the early days of November. According to the union, the initial strike will occur on November 1, when engineers will abstain from work for a full day. Additional disruptions are scheduled for November 7 and 12, when drivers and management teams will also participate in the protest.

Finn Brennan, a spokesperson for Aslef, stated that while workers do not wish to make commuting in London harder for passengers, they feel compelled to act because their pay adjustment requests have gone unanswered. The workforce is unhappy with the proposed 3.8% wage increase, as it places them at a lower salary level than other TfL employees while extending their working hours.
