Margot Robbie, the "Barbie" actress, will become the new face of Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines (THY) has chosen Hollywood superstar Margot Robbie as the new face for its advertising campaigns, aiming to promote its upcoming flights to Australia and enhance its global appeal.
Robbie, renowned for numerous iconic roles throughout her career and for starring in the highest-grossing film of 2023, "Barbie," is currently in discussions with THY to play a significant role in promoting the airline's revamped route to Australia, as reported by Hürriyet Daily News.
The decision was announced by THY Chairman of the Board Ahmet Bolat, marking the commencement of a close collaboration between the airline and the globally acclaimed actress.
"We will commence flights to Australia from March 15 to 25, 2024. We are currently in discussions with the Australian actress Margot Robbie. Our plan is to bring her to Turkey a week before the inaugural flight and explore various locations, including the historical site of Göbeklitepe," Bolat said.
"The Australian flight will involve a 10-hour layover in Singapore, followed by another seven-hour journey to Australia," he added.
In a statement in November, Bolat mentioned that the flag carrier is undertaking a joint project with the Ministry of Tourism. They have identified 10 target markets, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, China, South Korea, Australia, and Taiwan, with the aim of attracting tourists from these places to Turkey.
