Introducing Venice and Budapest: new Wizz Air flights from Moldova
Hungarian airline Wizz Air has announced the launch of new flights from Moldova to Budapest and Venice. Now tourists will be able to reach these desired destinations faster by utilizing Chisinau Airport, which is located 13 km from the capital.
The inaugural flight is scheduled for spring, on March 31, 2024. The low-cost carrier returned to the Moldovan market in December 2023, according to Moldpres.
The news of the resumption of low-cost flights from Moldova was announced on January 26 by Moldova's Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spinu.
"Wizz Air is inaugurating two new routes at Chisinau International Airport. Starting March 31, 2024, our citizens will be able to travel to Budapest and Venice with direct flights every Thursday and Sunday," he said.
Wizz Air resumed operations in Moldova in December last year, reintroducing flights to Rome, Milan, and London. In early 2023, Wizz Air decided to suspend flights from Chisinau due to airspace security concerns over Moldova, related to the conflict in Ukraine.
It is noteworthy that in addition to Wizz Air, airlines such as Lufthansa, IsrAir, Aegean Airlines, and Georgia Wings will also operate flights from Chisinau International Airport.
