More Direct Canada Flights Make Cross-Country and European Travel Easier
Starting from late June and early July 2025, WestJet will introduce four new domestic routes and enhance service frequency on several existing connections. For the first time, direct flights will be offered from Saskatoon and Regina to Halifax, and a previously halted route between Vancouver and Halifax will be reintroduced, with four weekly departures. A new link between Winnipeg and St. John's is also scheduled to launch on July 1, expanding connectivity across the country.
Increased flight frequencies have been confirmed on three popular routes. The Winnipeg–Halifax route will now run ten times weekly, representing a 43% rise. Service between Edmonton and Halifax will operate 13 times per week, and the Calgary-Deer Lake route will see its frequency rise by 50%, now running three times a week. These adjustments aim to accommodate the high demand during summer and improve travel dependability for Canadians in major areas.
Easier access to Halifax and St. John’s now streamlines connections for Canadian travelers heading to Europe on transatlantic flights. WestJet runs seasonal flights from Halifax to major European destinations such as London, Amsterdam, and Dublin. Each of these destinations presents something unique: travelers might walk through the centuries at the Tower of London, drift along Amsterdam’s scenic canals, or immerse themselves in the lively sounds of Irish folk music in Dublin’s Temple Bar district. With shorter layovers, reaching these highlights is now more straightforward for those flying from Western and Central Canada.
The revived Halifax–Vancouver service and added capacity from Winnipeg, Regina, and Saskatoon open the door to a wider range of travel experiences. From art and history in Paris and Edinburgh to canal-lined streets in Amsterdam, travelers will now find it simpler to reach iconic European cities via a single transfer on Canada’s East Coast.
We’re especially pleased to welcome non-stop services to Regina and Saskatoon for the first time and the return of the popular Halifax - Vancouver service, further strengthening Halifax Stanfield’s connections to the number of destinations last seen in 2019.
This growth results in shorter transit times, additional flight choices, and an overall more seamless travel experience. As domestic links strengthen, Canadians can plan summer vacations with greater ease—whether discovering Atlantic Canada, reuniting with family, or exploring Europe. This summer's schedule changes reflect a broader shift toward more accessible, efficient air travel.
