An outbreak of an unknown disease has affected more than 120 passengers and 16 crew members of the Queen Victoria cruise ship of Cunard Cruise Line. The incident occurred during a voyage that began on January 22 and will last until February 12.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the causative agent is unknown.

According to CruiseMapper, the ship has already visited such places as Fort Lauderdale, Aruba, and the Panama Canal.

The CDC claims that even though the cause of the outbreak remains unknown, Cunard Cruise Line is taking emergency measures to treat passengers and crew.

So far, it is known that all 123 affected passengers and 16 crew members have experienced nausea and diarrhea, but they do not necessarily get sick at the same time.

A Cunard Cruise Line spokesperson said the company immediately activated enhanced health and safety protocols for all passengers and crew. There are 1,824 passengers on the Queen Victoria, which can accommodate 2,061 guests.

Currently, the ship has isolated sick employees and has intensified cleaning and disinfection procedures in accordance with the ship's outbreak prevention and response plan.
