Five mummies over 1,000 years old were found in Peru. Presumably, these are the remains of four children and one adult.
They were found near the Rimac River in Lima. Most likely, according to scientists, the mummies belong to the ancient pre-Inca culture of Manchay, Andina reports.
The archaeologists also found a staircase that the agency says dates back to 3500 BC.
The mummies will be removed from the site by the end of the year so that experts can continue research, such as analyzing the components of textiles found in the funeral bags.
Minister of Culture Leslie Urteaga, who arrived at this point in the city, emphasized both extremely relevant finds. "They are of great importance to our history," the minister emphasized.
