National Express passengers are promised compensation if the last bus does not come

Bus passengers in the West Midlands of the United Kingdom will be able to claim compensation if the last bus of the day does not arrive, leaving them stranded at a bus stop. This is part of a commitment to a "minimum service standard" made by the West Midlands Transport Authority and bus operators.

This includes National Express, which provides the vast majority of services in the region. Passenger bus charters will now include a "last bus promise" that allows passengers whose last bus for the day is canceled to claim compensation for alternative transportation, such as a taxi home. This was reported by birminghammail.co.

Transportation officials said the goal was to prevent anyone from getting stranded late at night, especially women and girls. Passengers were outraged because the last buses were sometimes canceled and they had to find another way to get home.
