New 7-Day Hiking Trail Opens in the Dolomites
A new hiking trail, the Cammino Retico, has been inaugurated in Italy's Dolomites massif. Spanning 170 kilometers, this trail traverses the Veneto and Trentino regions, offering stunning scenery and promoting sustainable tourism.

This 170-kilometer loop trail passes through ten secluded villages at elevations ranging from 400 to 1,500 meters. The trail, developed by the Carpe Diem association, is named after the ancient Rhetians who once inhabited the Alpine region, particularly Trentino.
Starting and ending at Aune di Sovramente in Belluno, the trail allows hikers to explore the footsteps of the ancient Rhaetian people. Along the route, hikers will encounter breathtaking views of the Dolomites, wild valleys, limestone cliffs, and historical landmarks such as the Sanctuary of San Vittore and Corona, the Feltrino fjord on Lake Corlo, and the fortified town of Feltre. By 2025, cyclists will also be able to enjoy this route via a parallel bike path.
