Starting July 1, 2024, new regulations will be implemented for tourists, business travelers, and visitors to Israel. These changes include the introduction of an advance electronic entry permit system (ETA-IL), required for citizens of countries with which Israel has a visa-free regime, such as Bulgaria.

From July 1 to July 31, 2024, travelers from Bulgaria can apply for and obtain the electronic permit free of charge. This new requirement mandates that visitors must secure the electronic permit before entering Israel.

As of August 1, 2024, the electronic permit will become mandatory for all travelers to Israel, with a fee of NIS 25 (approximately BGN 12.50). The permit will be valid for up to two years or until the expiration date of the traveler’s passport. It allows for a visa-free stay in Israel for up to 90 days. Detailed information on the new travel rules can be found on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

The electronic permit can be requested through the following website: https://israel-entry.piba.gov.il. This new system aims to streamline entry procedures and enhance security measures for visitors.

In related news, Bulgaria Air has resumed its regular flights on the direct Sofia-Tel Aviv route after the stabilization of the regional situation. The airline is monitoring the situation in the Middle East and adhering to government recommendations. Passengers will be updated on any changes to travel options following risk assessments.
