New popular dessert — Crookie cookie-croissant — has reached London
The croissant cookie that surprised online dessert lovers is now available in London.
"The Crookie is a regular butter croissant with cookie dough and chocolate chips, which was first invented by pastry chef Stéphane Louvard in October 2022, the Daily Mail reports.
The pastry has gone viral on TikTok, and videos of users buying the original or making their own at home have garnered millions of views on the platform.
Last week, baker Philip Conchini announced that Crookies had been added to the menu of his London bakeries.
On Instagram, the chef shared a photo of the dessert and described it as "a crispy croissant filled with cookie dough with chopped hazelnuts and chocolate chips."
Although it has only recently appeared in the UK, the famous dessert has been around since 2022 after a Parisian chef, French pastry chef Stephane Louvard, had the idea to combine French puff pastry with American cookies.
As TravelWise previously reported, Paris has created another version of traditional pastries – a combination of croissant and American chocolate chip cookies called croqui (from the words croissant and cookie).
