Treni Turistici Italiani, an Italian rail company, recently unveiled a picturesque train route connecting Milan to Nice. Slated to run as a summer trial from August to September, this route offers travelers a scenic journey along the stunning Mediterranean coastline, taking approximately 6 hours and 25 minutes.

The "L'Espresso Riviera," boasting ten carriages with a total capacity of 600 passengers, focuses on providing an enchanting travel experience rather than speed. Luigi Cantamessa, Chairman of Treni Turistici Italiani, noted that while the journey is not high-speed, it aims to mesmerize passengers with breathtaking coastal views.

The inaugural journey is set to begin on Saturday, August 3, with the service operating two round trips each weekend throughout the summer, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Tickets start at around fifty euros each way, with options ranging from second class to a luxurious four-person 'lounge' that can be privately reserved. This new service offers a seamless connection for French travelers to Milan via Ventimiglia and Genoa, making it convenient for both leisure and business trips.

For avid travelers, this service unlocks numerous possibilities. Departing from Milan Centrale, Pavia, and Genoa in the morning, the train traverses through charming Italian towns such as Varazze, Savona, Albenga, Alassio, Diano, Imperia, Sanremo, Bordighera, and Ventimiglia. In August, the journey extends to include Menton, Monte Carlo, and Nice, showcasing the allure of the French Riviera.

Passengers can relish the crystal-clear sea views through large windows in their comfortable carriages. The train features an elegant dining car offering Italian cuisine, ensuring that the journey is as delightful as the destinations. First-class passengers will enjoy exclusive perks, including breakfast and dinner in the dining car and a baggage service.

This new route highlights a growing trend in the resurgence of train travel, focusing on the scenic and leisurely aspects of the journey. It is also part of Trenitalia's broader strategy to expand its footprint in France, aiming to enhance cross-border mobility and attract more travelers to experience the Mediterranean's natural beauty and cultural richness.
