The popular night train route connecting Amsterdam and Barcelona has been delayed until 2026, although its launch was initially scheduled for 2025. The postponement is due to difficulties in acquiring the necessary train carriages and lengthy negotiations with the French rail operator SNCF Réseau. Around 30-35 carriages are needed for the successful launch, which are currently hard to secure.

European Sleeper remains optimistic, hoping to launch the route by the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026. At the same time, they are actively preparing to open a new route from Brussels to Venice, planned for 2025. This route is designed to meet the demand of tourists planning winter trips or attending the Venice Carnival.

Amsterdam and Barcelona are among the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. Amsterdam is known for its picturesque canals, world-class museums, and rich cultural heritage, attracting millions of visitors. Barcelona is also a favorite among travelers due to its unique architecture, beautiful beaches, and historical landmarks.

These cities are also leaders in promoting sustainable tourism. Amsterdam stands out for its sustainability programs, including the promotion of cycling and green initiatives. Barcelona is also actively developing green projects and improving its public transport system to reduce its environmental impact.

For travelers, this delay means a longer wait for a convenient, eco-friendly night train between two major European cities. However, the future launch of this route will be an important step toward sustainable tourism, reducing reliance on short-haul flights. The train is expected to help lower carbon emissions and promote more environmentally friendly travel.

This news is part of a broader trend of increasing popularity for rail travel across Europe. With more investments in night routes and improvements in rail infrastructure, travelers are getting more opportunities for comfortable and environmentally responsible long-distance travel. The opening of new night routes will make travel more sustainable and convenient for everyone.
