After two intense days of mediation, Norwegian Airlines and the Norwegian Pilot Union (NPU) have successfully negotiated a new collective bargaining agreement. This pivotal agreement eliminates the imminent threat of a strike, bringing relief to travelers.

The agreement impacts 690 pilots employed in Norway. Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian, expressed satisfaction with the resolution, emphasizing that it alleviates concerns for customers planning to travel with the airline. The focus now shifts to the busy summer season, with Norwegian eager to welcome passengers on board.

Despite the agreement, the airline faces challenges in adjusting its flight schedule. Due to the previously announced strike threat, Norwegian cannot immediately staff all flights, potentially leading to some cancellations this weekend. Affected passengers will be directly notified.

Karlsen acknowledged the inconvenience but assured that the airline is striving to rebook affected travelers swiftly. This summer, Norwegian has introduced 47 new routes and increased capacity by 1.6 million seats compared to last year. The airline plans to operate around 500 flights daily across 340 routes to over 120 destinations.
