Notable New Airline Routes Launched This Week

This week has seen significant expansions in airline routes across the globe, enhancing connectivity for travelers. Major airlines, including Singapore Airlines, Etihad, Copa Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, and Air India, have introduced new routes, opening up new travel opportunities.

Singapore Airlines has launched a new non-stop service from Singapore to London Gatwick, a route last served by its low-cost unit, Scoot, via Bangkok in 2021/2022. The service will operate five times weekly using the Airbus A350-900, expanding Singapore Airlines’ European network to 14 destinations.

In the past ten days, Etihad Airways has inaugurated seven new routes from Abu Dhabi to various destinations including Antalya, Nice, Santorini, Jaipur, Mykonos, Al Qassim, and Denpasar Bali. This expansion follows the addition of Abu Dhabi-Malaga earlier in June.

Copa Airlines has introduced flights to Raleigh Durham, its 16th US destination, and two new routes to Brazil and Mexico. The new routes from Panama City to Florianopolis and Tulum further strengthen Copa's presence in Latin America.

Royal Air Maroc has begun flights from Casablanca to Abuja and Naples, with a planned route to Manchester delayed due to an airport power outage. These new routes enhance connectivity to and from Morocco, especially for passengers traveling to the UK and US.

After a hiatus of over 20 years, Air India has resumed flights to Zurich from Delhi, utilizing the Boeing 787-8. This service is part of Air India's broader European network, which now includes 16 routes from various Indian cities to 10 European airports.

Additionally, Alaska Airlines has launched its longest non-stop service from Anchorage to New York JFK. This new route, operating daily with the Boeing 737 MAX 8, marks a significant addition to Alaska Airlines' network, offering more travel options for passengers.

This week has also seen numerous other route launches, including new services by Akasa Air, Wizz Air, LATAM, and Kenya Airways, among others. These new connections highlight the ongoing expansion and recovery of the global airline industry.
