Philadelphia Airport will introduce a pass for visitors without a ticket: how and when to get it
Soon, visitors to the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) will be able to get right to the gate without buying a ticket. The new PHL Wingmate Guest Pass will allow passengers' family and friends to meet them immediately after boarding and walk them right to the plane.
The offer was introduced at the request of people who want to spend as much time as possible with travelers. The passes will be available as early as November 1 this year, the website says.
Airport visitors will still have to go through security from 6:00 to 22:00, but after that they can stay at the airport all day.
The service will be completely free of charge and will include certain privileges that have not yet been disclosed.
Megan O'Connell, PHL's Director of Marketing and Branding, said: "We receive many requests from friends and family members who want to accompany a passenger to or from the gate. The Wingmate Guest Pass will help loved ones spend more time with family members before takeoff or create a memorable arrival experience."
To receive permission to stay at the airport without a ticket, visitors will need to fill out an online application available at https://phl.org/wingmate one to seven days before their desired visit. After that, they will receive an email with the status of their application.
If all goes well, PHL will send a return letter with a digital Wingmate Pass to be presented at the D/E or A-East PHL checkpoints.
