PROMPERÚ and LATAM Airlines Form Strategic Alliance to Boost Tourism to Peru
The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) and LATAM Airlines have announced a strategic alliance aimed at promoting tourism to Peru. This initiative targets key markets including Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Spain, the United States, and Mexico, which collectively accounted for 61% of international arrivals to Peru in 2023. The alliance will be in effect until June 2024 and involves digital advertising campaigns in these countries to boost tourism.
This partnership aims to diversify the travel options and enhance international connectivity. Digital marketing efforts are focusing on promoting Peruvian destinations such as Áncash, Arequipa, Cusco, Lima, and Piura to Colombian travelers.
LATAM Airlines provides robust connectivity between Peru and the markets involved in this alliance, with three direct routes from Colombia to Peru and an average of 33 weekly flights. This enhances access for Colombian travelers to explore various regions in Peru.
LATAM Airlines dominates the Peruvian market, offering 52% of the seat capacity for international passengers. This strategic alliance with PROMPERÚ is expected to further strengthen Peru’s tourism sector by making travel more accessible and promoting a diverse range of destinations.
The importance of the Colombian market for Peruvian tourism cannot be overstated. In 2023, Colombia was the fourth-largest source of tourists to Peru, following Chile, the United States, and Ecuador. Out of 2,524,658 international tourists visiting Peru, 146,423 were from Colombia.
By focusing on these strategic markets and enhancing connectivity, PROMPERÚ and LATAM Airlines aim to significantly increase tourism to Peru, showcasing the country's rich cultural and natural attractions to a broader international audience.
