Lavish, luxurious, and featuring food to die for, the Qatar Airways Premium Lounge at London Heathrow's Terminal 4 sets a high bar for airport lounges. Recently revamped during the COVID downtime, this lounge is a must-visit for travelers seeking comfort and elegance before their flight.

Finding the lounge is straightforward, especially if you're using the fast-track security facility. Located adjacent to gate 1B, the lounge stands beside the Priority Pass Plaza Premium lounge. Upon arrival, Qatar Airways staff are ready to assist with boarding pass checks.

Upon entering, the lounge's aesthetic immediately impresses. A large chandelier with faux candles hangs from a bronze ceiling over a striking black table adorned with orchids. The sandstone wall engraved with 'welcome' in Arabic adds a touch of cultural flair. The lounge features various seating areas, including a clubroom with egg chairs and leather sofas, and a more private area with a TV. A floor-to-ceiling window runs the length of the lounge, filling the space with natural light.

The dining options in the lounge are extensive. The cold buffet offers fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, and breads, while the hot buffet includes chicken, beef, and vegetarian dishes. An à la carte menu is also available, featuring dishes such as seared beef steak, lamb biryani, and sushi. The desserts, like lime marinated mango with crème fraiche, are exceptional. The lounge also boasts a well-stocked bar with a variety of beverages, including champagne, wines, spirits, and soft drinks.

The lounge is well-equipped for relaxation, with ample seating and a serene atmosphere. However, it lacks designated workspaces, which can be inconvenient for business travelers. The WiFi speed is impressive, averaging 97mb/s, which is suitable for video conferencing and streaming. The bathrooms and shower facilities are meticulously maintained, with staff ensuring cleanliness and availability.

Despite the lack of departure boards, staff make regular flight announcements and assist with timely departures. The lounge's proximity to the gates means minimal transit time is required. The service is attentive, though it can feel slightly overwhelming due to the high staff-to-guest ratio.

Overall, the Qatar Airways Premium Lounge offers a luxurious and comfortable pre-flight experience, particularly suited for leisure travelers. The food and decor stand out, and while it could benefit from better work facilities, it remains a top choice for passengers flying from Terminal 4.
