Lake Saimaa, the largest of Finland's 188,000 lakes, is becoming a popular destination for e-bike travels. The 60-kilometer route, known as the Puumala Archipelago Ring Road, is attracting more and more tourists.

The route begins at the Sahanlahti Resort, where cyclists can rent e-bikes. The path is well-marked and has service stops for repairs. Along the route, there is a rest area called Norppalaavu, offering shelter by the lake with fire pits and toilets.

The route includes two ferry crossings. The first ferry, Hätinvirta, operates year-round and takes cyclists to the island of Niinisaari. The second ferry, available only in summer, departs from the island of Lintusalo. Due to the limited number of spaces, it is recommended to book tickets in advance.

The Saimaa region is renowned for its natural beauty and tranquility. In 2024, Saimaa Lakeland was awarded the title of European Region of Gastronomy, which has attracted even more visitors. The area is also famous for its ringed seals, whose population is increasing thanks to conservation efforts.

The route concludes at the Lietvesi Scenic Road, offering picturesque views. The final stop is the Pistohiekka Resort, known for its nature and opportunity to relax.

E-bike travel along the Puumala Archipelago Ring Road is becoming increasingly popular among tourists seeking new experiences and wanting to appreciate the beauty of Saimaa Lakeland.
