SAS and Apollo to Launch New Routes from Scandinavia
SAS and Apollo have announced the launch of new direct flights from Copenhagen to Banjul, Gambia, set to commence in November 2024. The new route will operate for approximately five months and will be serviced by Airbus A321LR aircraft, offering connections from Stockholm, Oslo, and Helsinki.
This expansion comes as part of a new three-year agreement between SAS and Apollo, valued at 4.5 billion SEK, extending their partnership through the summer of 2027. Under this agreement, SAS will continue to be Apollo's main charter operations partner, flying customers from 15 locations in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway to 24 destinations across Europe.
The introduction of the Copenhagen-Banjul route is expected to enhance travel options for Scandinavian passengers, providing a new destination with convenient connections. The Airbus A321LR aircraft will feature three cabins: Business, Plus, and Go.
SAS's Global Sales Director, Michael Erixon, noted the strategic importance of the agreement for adjusting flight capacity seasonally. Apollo's CEO, Tobias Jönsson, emphasized the value of their long-standing partnership with SAS and the benefits for their customers.
The new route and extended agreement highlight the ongoing collaboration between SAS and Apollo, aimed at providing expanded travel opportunities for Scandinavian travelers.
