Severe storms have caused significant travel disruptions in southern Germany, particularly affecting long-distance train services. The storm damage has led to cancellations and delays, primarily impacting Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Travelers are advised to avoid these areas due to flooding and expect crowded conditions on the operational trains.

The storm has forced a complete suspension of long-distance train services between Stuttgart and Munich.

Several key routes are currently experiencing cancellations, including:

  • Munich - Nuremberg - Erfurt - Berlin
  • Karlsruhe - Stuttgart - Ulm - Augsburg - Munich
  • Stuttgart - Mannheim - Frankfurt(M)
  • Munich - Lindau - Bregenz - Zurich
  • Karlsruhe - Stuttgart - Crailsheim - Nuremberg
  • Augsburg - Kempten(Allgäu) - Oberstdorf

In addition to cancellations, there are significant delays on the Nuremberg - Würzburg route, with trains running approximately 30 minutes behind schedule.

For travelers who purchased tickets on or before June 2, 2024, for journeys between June 2 and June 3, 2024, there is flexibility to reschedule due to the storm damage. Tickets remain valid for travel to the original destination even if the route changes, and seat reservations can be canceled without charge.

Furthermore, standard tariff and statutory passenger rights apply, allowing for ticket refunds under certain conditions.

Current estimates suggest that these travel restrictions will last until Sunday, June 2, 2024. Updates on the situation will be provided daily by 5 p.m.
