Shania Twain Welcomes Travelers on the #ShaniaTrain to Glastonbury
Glastonbury-bound travelers received a delightful surprise as they boarded the #ShaniaTrain—an enthusiastic welcome from Shania Twain herself. The special message from the country pop icon greeted festival-goers on their journey to Castle Cary, ahead of her much-anticipated 'Legend slot' performance on Sunday.
In her warm greeting, Shania Twain addressed the Great Western Railway (GWR) staff and passengers, saying, "Hello GWR staff and customers! Welcome aboard the #ShaniaTrain to Glastonbury. This is SHANIA TWAIN! But don’t worry, I’m not the train driver… I’m just here to wish everybody a great weekend. LET’S GO GIRLS."
Travelers on the #ShaniaTrain were thrilled by the surprise. Rosie Viva and Ella Jenkin, both from London, shared their excitement about hearing Shania’s voice during their trip. "It was so cool to hear her voice on the train," Ella remarked. "She's an absolute icon, and it's so exciting to be traveling on the #ShaniaTrain."
The unique welcome wasn't limited to Shania Twain's message. Nick Grimshaw and Annie Macmanus, well-known broadcasters, also recorded messages for the travelers. The idea for the #ShaniaTrain originated from a conversation between Nick Grimshaw and Shania Twain on the BBC Sounds podcast, Sidetracked with Annie and Nick. This idea quickly gained popularity on social media, prompting GWR to design a #ShaniaTrain vinyl featuring a glittery pink leopard print.
Amanda Burns, GWR Sales & Marketing Director, expressed her satisfaction with the positive response to the #ShaniaTrain. "It’s been a thrill to see it out and about on the GWR network," she said. "The audio announcements from Shania, Nick, and Annie were an extra-special treat, and it’s been a real pleasure to bring this gem of an idea to reality."
The #ShaniaTrain has added an extra layer of excitement for festival-goers, making the journey to one of the world's most iconic music festivals even more memorable.
